The reason it doesn't show up in the "recent blog posts" on the sidebar is that I created the item as a story and not a blog post. I'm trying to decide how to treat info about the site -- should it be part of my onsite blog or should it be separate. I hadn't considered that by making it a "story" and thus not part of a blog that it would be absent from the sidebar. Thanks for pointing that out!
