This Month...
Dari the poet is a 22 year old revolutionary activist from Jamaica, Queens. He comes form a very progressive and socialist background where dinner time was spent listening to his father talk about his role in the Filipino revolt against Marcos. He's been working and organizing with Queer Youth of Color since he was a youth and continues to do so now that he's... in his later stages of his youth. Since coming out as FTM in 2005- he's dedicated a good portion of his "good guy" development in recognizing the difference between oppression and privilege. He's a "Dad" to three amazing dogs and one snuggly cat- all of which live with their "mom" in Ohio .

SHANTÉ PARADIGM is a Brooklyn-based emcee, singer, poet, writer, activist and scholar. She has been featured at CBs Gallery, H.E.R.E. Theater, The Knitting Factory, Galapagos Art Space, Nuyorican Poets Café, among many other art and college venues,magazines, websites, and other media. Paradigm is the co-founder of Peace Out East (www.peaceouteast.com ), NYC's LGBTQ hip hop and cultural festival, inaugurated in 2003. She also co-founded and produced, Word/Life: Emcees and Poets in Da Life, a quarterly showcase of underground hip hop artists and poets. She served as the artistic director of Phat Family Records ( www.phatfamily.org ) from 2003-2006.

Since 2006, Paradigm solely produced the Peace Out East festival, combining artistic and scholarly pursuits, and hosted the festival to New York University. In 2007, she will produce and host the festival in October.

Shanté Paradigm is part of the hip hop-soul duo B.Q.E. ( www.cdbaby.com/bqe ), and makes solo music. She is currently working on an untitled solo album with production by Tori Fixx, Patrick Rivers, herself and others.

In her spare time, she pursuing her Doctorate at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts in the Department of Performance Studies.

Paradigm loves to sing, rap, write, blog, practice yoga and meditation, spend time with her lady and dog.
