Submitted by tracya on 22 August 2007 - 2:20am.

this article points out the proliferation of CCTV in the UK, mostly from a crime prevention point of view. it is easy to see how people engaged in "private" activities in semi public places are being observed also...

CCTV: Does it work?

Shopping centre cameras caught James Bulger's killers
Britain is increasingly becoming a place caught on videotape but opinion is divided about the real effect CCTV cameras have on reducing crime.

The average citizen in the UK is caught on CCTV cameras 300 times a day.

the hospital where i work is full of cameras and we use them at the entrance to our unit. in some ways they are a good thing but there are four views available and one is to an outside entrance, i have on occaision seen the security people adjust and zoom in on womens crotches and tits...

people are concerned as it seems like its a vague legal minefield....
