my family have been going on about "fox" but living in england i just didn't get it....now i get it!!!

you would never see this discussion in the UK or europe. i'm a bit speechless except to say congratulations to the happy couple!

i'm sure they were more acceptable than a homosexual(male)couple, why is it that (american) society has such difficulty with gay men?

my daughter took photos for her high school yearbook so i know the thrust is to capture the "real" student life. i am completely comfortable with students showing their sexuality, whether they are experimenting or whether it becomes a way of life.

i was or attempted to be intimate with guys back in my high school days (70's) who weren't "able" to consummate~~~i later found out they were happy with other guys... at the time i was confused but it all seems so clear now, i almost wish i could say it's okay, you shouldn't have wasted your time with me~you should have been with tom, dick or harry!

ps. so proud ms berman is in chicago, my hometown!!!

O'Reilly proves that logic and critical thinking are beyond his mental capacity.

Dr. Berman very clearly pinned him down on his inconsistent approach to different types of sexuality, and he was apparently more than happy to flaunt his ignorant stance that teenagers' sexuality should be subject to his religious censorship.

Once again, it all comes down to the press to create an American theocracy led by the fringe of the political right wing. No one is safe until the iron fist of the would-be Taliban is marginalized and castrated of its influence in every arena, from politics and policy to education and science.

"how far does refusing to wear a flag pin go?" well, in his current spotlight, a gesture like that is a big deal for him, and a very calculated move. I think he's very aware of the current state of political opinion- in the current government and in the current culture in the US. He's taking alot of heat for what he believes in, says, and does/doesn't do, and so are the people on the opposite end of the spectrum. Every little blip he speaks will come back to either help or haunt him, and things I tend to agree haven't been so great for him recently.

Pam Spaulding (who I adore) at Pandagon has two posts up about this debacle. The first one asks whether Obama will reach out, answering the letter sent to him by the the National Black Justice Coalition asking him about the controversy over McClurkin. The second, explains why he'd have selected a better minister to counter the recloseted McClurkin, if he had.

But he didn't.

I read this post right after my friends at the Pink Pistols informed me about a former contestant on TV's "Top Chef", her sister and a friend being attacked by a pack of gay-bashers on Long Island, Labor Day weekend. I've got two opposing emotions fighting for the top slot right now. Thank you for bringing us this promising story.

me to start pontificating on how the little butthead will probably get a slap on the wrist.

What I mean to say is that such ignorant and antiquated behavior is the stinking, rotting, left over corpse of dark age religiosity, and this bus driver needs a good twenty first century kick right in his tuckus.

And that's all I have to say about that! (Until tomorrow, at which time my mouth will probably kick back into overdrive of its own accord.)

Don't even get me started on the mental issues a man must have that causes him to be turned off by two girls kissing.

A follow up : the driver will be disciplined, but the disciplinary action has not yet been made public (and may well not be made public). The disciplinary action is not in response to the homophobia or discrimination against lesbians, but rather because of a violation of a policy that minors and "vulnerable" people should not be put off busses.

Did you see that poll in the sidebar of the KATU story? 53% (so far) say the driver should not be disciplined. Even on the face of it he violated policy by kicking them off the way he did! I'm pretty surprised this happened in Portland.

It's good to see another sign that the vocal breeders of hate and division are becoming a smaller and more marginalized minority.
