Greetings:

This is the first time I've posted on Sex In the Public Square. I learned about this site when I attended the session at Left Forum mentioned above. This was one of three sessions that had something to do with sexuality and emotional labor in the household. I'm excited to see that there is a greater willingness on the left to discuss these matters. I'm hoping to meet people online and offline who want to continue these many important threads

And I totally agree w/ what you said here:

"The building of spaces on the Internet where sex -- of all sorts -- can be discussed openly, and where the connections between sex and the rest of our lives can be explored instead of studiously ignored, is so important. "

That's exactly what I'm trying to do w/ Sex 2.0, and I hope it pans out! I think building such spaces - offline as well as online - is fundamentally important to social change.

Catherine, i hope you'll be back! We'd love to hear about how things are in Canada, where prostitution is techically legal but nearly impossible to practice without breaking the law. We'll post any events we hear about, but please feel free to post events you know about, too! If you need help figuring out how to do that, let us know. Nothing like a little cross-border organizing!

Hello...this is a message from Canada, where sex work is technically legal but all activities surrounding are NOT- which makes it close to impossible to practice without breaking a law. It is about time sex workers come together to fight for their workers rights...They deserve it as much as any other worker... I unite with all sex workers around the globe! Pls keep me posted on upsoming events and on any mobilization tactics I can utilize here...

I will definitely try to put something together. I'd love to be there. By the way, my sister lives a bit northwest of Atlanta, so I can totally imagine what no AC in August must feel like. She was just telling me about how terribly hot it had been, and not in a good way!
