Debbie Nathan's Sex Angst Roundup (DebbieNathan.com)

Debbie Nathan's Sex Angst Roundup ranges from the Washinton Post's look at the sex trafficking panic to an update on the Kurt Eichenwald/Justin Berry story and from Nan Goldin's artwork being yet again the focus of a censorious police investigation to the Human Rights Watch report that clearly lays out the ways that the US sex offender registries as currently administered violate human rights without protecting children. It's a "must read" -- go, check it out now. Really.

My nomination for best passage from the roundup?

"...as I found out by doing about two hours of phone reporting, there was never any mob of middle-school slaves, no 12 year olds, no communion dresses. But the Times never ran a correction. That’s pernicious since – as the Washington Post notes – the government has estimated the slave population by tallying “victims” reported in … news clippings."

It is so important for newspapers to get this stuff right, and it is even more important that when they get it wrong they're called on it over and over until they correct the record!

"Trade" promo image And new vocabulary word for the week: Kincaidian (as in "Check out the promo image, above, from Trade. Landesman – what a pornographer. In the Kincaidian sense."). For an explanation of Kincaidian go read Susie Bright's interview with Debbie Nation.
