Have you ever traded sex for the things you need?
So... Are you tired of the laws that punish people for how they earn a living? Are you tired of the police harassing you because of how you dress or because of who you are? Are you organizing to make a change? Would you like to organize for change?
Be a leader for your community!
And learn how to make rights a reality at the
NATIONAL SEX WORKER LEADERSHIP TRAINING INSTITUTE
October 25 to 27, 2007
I've written before about how Heather Corinna is one of my heroes of the Internetz. Almost single-handedly, she created and has maintained Scarleteen, the single finest internet resource for teens to learn about sex, either queer or straight, without learning gobs and gobs of garbage about Virginity or Marriage is the one and only way. Scarleteen is essential for anyone who gives a shit about sex or about teens, and it behooves all of us to make sure that it and Heather are in good shape.
From the HRC "National Coming Out Day" page :
This year will also mark an important hallmark as National Coming Out Day, falls on the 20th anniversary of the 1987 Gay and Lesbian March on Washington, and the unfurling of the AIDS Quilt on the National Mall. The very first National Coming Out Day was celebrated a year to the day later as a way of continuing the spirit of openness, honesty and visibility that the March and the AIDS Quilt presentation inspired.

It looks like the Catholic League is slithering out of the closet again.
The Catholic League is the worst of the worst who represent the Catholic Church. Ideologically, they hail from the bad old days, when everyone named Goldberg or Lieberman had hands that were literally, personally considered to be soaked in the blood of Christ. The League has been an active force in trying to suppress art and expression that they considered to be "anti-Catholic," which is defined extremely broadly. The sheer slavering paranoia of the Catholic League on virtually all fronts of the "culture wars" can be summed up by a single, infamous quote by League President William Donohue from an appearance on Scarborough Country in 2004:
If you can't come to our "coming out party" because you're in San Francisco then consider this very worthwhile event. Nora Dye rode across the country on her bike to promote sex education, and sexual and reproductive freedom. She is a remarkable young woman and her project is worthy of tremendous celebration!
Nora Dye says: 15 weeks on my bicycle. 4600 miles across the country. 19 states. 2 massive dog bites. Wrong turns, dazzling vistas, bears, moose, and midwestern misadventures.
Plus enough stories about sex, politics and culture to tease your brain and challenge all the things you thought you knew about the politics of sexual freedom in America.
Join me, Rhonda and my temporarily rock hard calves for a report back and slide show of my adventures across the US. Find out what they're thinking in Wyoming, why they can't get enough of masturbation in Ithaca and why they're doing things in Madison that will blow your mind.
Join us for a fun filled night of adventures, laughter and good conversation!

Please write a short note of support for the Palmer House Hilton, host hotel for International Mr. Leather, thanking them for not discriminating against any guests or groups based on their sexual orientation. The anti-gay group, Americans For Truth, posted an action alert calling for people to protest the "homosexual orgies" that take place at the "sadistic sexual perversion-fest known as International Mr. Leather." Why Masturbate? Why Masturbate-a-thon?
Despite great strides in sex-positive education, masturbation for many remains a taboo subject. We believe:
* Masturbation is the safest sex.
* More masturbation means more sexual self-awareness.
* Masturbation with a partner can be educational and hot.
The Center For Sex & Culture is 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to sexual freedom and safety, offering classes and workshops that continue to promote a sex-positive reality. Come for this good cause.
